The Programme

A preliminary conference programme will be available for comment mid-April 2016.

At this stage, we suggest the following five broad themes. The topics in parentheses give ideas for talks. These topics and themes will not necessarily become sessions at the meeting; rather, sessions will be organised based on the abstracts we receive.

  • soundscapes (e.g., ambient noise, sound source characteristics, sound propagation, sound maps, standardisation of data collection and analysis)
  • sound production and reception (e.g., vocalisation, acoustic communication, echolocation, hearing sensitivity, directionality, critical ratio, critical bands, integration time, sound source localization)
  • impacts on individuals (e.g., behavioural responses, masking, TTS, stress, cumulative impacts, long-term impacts, standardisation of data collection and analysis)
  • ecological impacts (e.g., vital rates, population impacts, acoustic ecology, predator/prey interactions)
  • regulation & mitigation (e.g., exposure assessment, risk management, standardisation, uncertainty)
  • other
